Right now in Japan it is fashionable to put on the facades of houses symbolic images of flowers, elements of clothing, characteristic of Eastern culture. A young artist from Kiev herself took part in the design of several buildings, drawing on them graphic drawings with cult female images of the East.
Artist Maria Umievskaya lives and works in Kiev. However, she has always been attracted by the culture of Asian countries. Recently in Japan, she realized her creative project, which consists of sketches of drawings made on the walls of private residential buildings.
The prototypes of the images were popular cult female images of the East: the heavenly dancer Apsara, Chiharu Okunugi with chrysanthemums, a woman in clothes from the times of the Chinese Tang dynasty.
Thus, the artist managed to combine the past and the present of Japan in her project: the ancient culture is reflected on modern architectural facades.
In Tunisia, there are not a few houses, but a whole village, in which almost all the walls of the houses are painted by 150 artists. Project Djerbahood instantly transformed the facades of buildings, making them more distinctive.
