The centuries-old history of Rome knows its ups and downs; the territory of this powerful city has been repeatedly raided. Vandals, Goths - whoever did not encroach on untold wealth. Of course, today the Romans live in peace, they are not afraid of raids, however, and in our days there are surprises. On June 22, the capital of Italy was literally occupied by … blue cartoon gnomes. Yes, the famous Smurfs could be seen near all the sights, since World smurfs day.

The family comedy film "The Smurfs" appeared on our screens a couple of years ago, and won the love of both children and adults. The adventures of bizarre gnomes, abandoned (according to the scenario) by the will of fate in the central park of New York, literally came true exactly in reality, only instead of America they found themselves in Europe. A "landing" of 4 thousand Smurfs landed in the central square of Rome, later these creatures were seen near all the most famous architectural monuments. The Colosseum, Piazza Navona, Castel Sant'Angelo and Plaza de España - these guys have been everywhere.

The holiday was immediately symbolically dubbed the "blue invasion". All the laurels went to the Belgian artist Peyo, who created these funny cartoon characters. The Smurfs did not just “take pictures” against the background of sights, they “took a ride” in a carriage through the center of Rome and even tasted signature Italian pizza in one of the restaurants. The large-scale celebration of World Smurfs Day is intended not only to amuse people, but also to serve as a kind of announcement of the second part of the film, which is scheduled to premiere in September 2013. The premiere screening will take place, of course, in Italy.
