July 6 marks the 78th anniversary of the famous opera singer and teacher, People's Artist of the USSR Tamara Sinyavskaya. In the 1970s. she was called "the Queen Tamara of the opera stage", her vocal technique was considered virtuoso, she performed in the largest concert halls of the USSR, USA, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia. 18 years ago, she decided to leave the stage, and this was not a forced measure, but a deliberate choice. The decline of her career was not a tragedy for her, but the departure of her husband, Muslim Magomayev, became a real disaster. For 13 years Sinyavskaya has been living without him, and now she rarely appears in public and gives interviews.
Kindergarten artist
According to Tamara Sinyavskaya, she felt herself a singer from the age of three. As a child, her favorite pastime was singing in the ceremonial old Moscow houses - there was good acoustics. When the neighbors got tired of such concerts, they advised her mother to take her daughter to the House of Pioneers in an appropriate circle. So Tamara began to study vocals, and later she was accepted into the children's ensemble of Vladimir Loktev, where she also learned to dance. From the age of 10, together with the choir of this group, Sinyavskaya participated in government concerts, and once even traveled abroad, when the ensemble went on tour to Czechoslovakia.
The head of the ensemble recommended Tamara to enter the music school at the Moscow Conservatory. P. Tchaikovsky, and she followed his advice. During her studies, she began performing in the choir of the Maly Theater, and after graduating from college she decided to try her hand at a competitive audition at the Bolshoi Theater. And although she did not have a conservatory education, the selection committee unanimously decided to accept the talented artist.
She was too young, and this decision was the exception to the rule. Sinyavskaya was only 20, and she looked even younger. And when she just approached the piano, the commission began whispering: “” However, no one later regretted this decision. A year later, Tamara was accepted into the main cast of the troupe. In parallel with performances at the theater, Sinyavskaya continued her studies at GITIS.
Queen Tamara of the opera stage
When Sinyavskaya sang the part of Olga in the opera "Eugene Onegin", Honored Master Sergei Lemeshev, said that in all his 70 years he saw "the real Pushkin Olga" on the stage for the first time. Soon she performed all the main operatic roles at the Bolshoi Theater and devoted almost 40 years of her life to this stage. She was called the best Russian vocalist of the Italian school, her talent was worshiped both in the USSR and abroad.
In 1970, at the competition festival named after V. I. P. Tchaikovsky Tamara Sinyavskaya and Elena Obraztsova shared the main prize. After that, the singer received offers to perform on world stages more than once, but she never thought about moving from the USSR.
You are my melody
For the first time Muslim Magomayev saw her on TV - and immediately fell in love with her voice. The singer recalled: "" Tamara also said that at first she fell in love with the voice, and then - with its owner: "".
They met in 1972 during the decade of Russian art in Baku. After that, Tamara went to Italy for an internship for a year, but their communication was not interrupted - Magomayev called her every day. Once on the phone he sang to her his new song "You are my melody", which became a hymn of their love. They got married a year later and have not parted since then, having lived together for 34 years.
Sinyavskaya said that from the moment she met Magomayev, no matter how much she loved the stage, her whole life was devoted only to him. Therefore, the end of her career did not become a tragedy for her. In 2003, the singer decided to leave the Bolshoi Theater. She was in good shape and could continue performing, but said: "". At the same time, Sinyavskaya did not say goodbye to music - she took up teaching activities, heading the department of vocal art at GITIS.
An irreparable loss
In 2008, a disaster struck that forever divided her life into “before” and “after” - her husband was gone. After his departure, the artist could not come to her senses for a long time. She led a closed life, withdrew into herself, changed her phone number, refused interviews, stopped communicating with many acquaintances and even relatives. Sinyavskaya has not yet been able to come to terms with this loss. The only thing that saved her was her work with students, which made her want to live on.
The singer dedicated her entire further life to the memory of her husband: she established and headed the Muslim Magomayev Cultural and Musical Heritage Fund, republished his book "Memories Live in Me", became a member of the jury of the international vocalists competition named after M. Magomayeva. In the spring of 2020, the premiere of the biographical series "Magomayev" took place, in the creation of which Sinyavskaya took a direct part - she consulted the scriptwriter and chose the actors for the main roles. Her opinion became decisive when Milos Bikovich was approved for the role of Magomayev. According to the singer, there was much in common with the legendary artist in his "restless movement and soft intonation".
10 years after the departure of her husband, the singer admitted that she still feels his presence and feels an invisible connection with him: "". Today she calls him her guardian angel, who is always there.
Their relationship is still admired by thousands of fans: The love story of Muslim Magomayev and Tamara Sinyavskaya.
