We offer a little distraction from the capital's news from the world of high-profile premieres and red carpet. Today there will be a story about one interesting place in the Kaluga region - this is the "Theater of the Village".
Background
The theater appeared on the basis of a rural center for the whole family, which was founded in 2015, in the premises of an old rural pharmacy. In the courtyard of the building there were syringes, rubbish, birches grew on the roof. The initiative of those who moved to live in the village from the city of Gleb and Irina Danilovs was to turn the collapsed building into a leisure center. To do this, they had to sell an apartment in the city …
As a result, in the fall of 2015, the center opened the first classes for residents of the village and nearby settlements. Today more than 100 people and more than 10 directions are engaged in the center. There are wrestlers, guitarists, gymnasts, fitness and MMA in the evenings!
The center has no profit, working on self-sufficiency, the leaders attract teachers from the city. This interesting idea requires waste - not everyone will go to work in the countryside. But children's smiles and a cultural mission, as the leaders admit, pay off much more.
In 2019, the center managed to defend the second part of the building, which until recently housed a bankrupt pharmacy. The building was threatened with the opening of an alcoholic beverages store in it, but with the help of public funding, it was defended.
Village theater
And all these 100 people shared 40 squares among themselves! In a small hall, the whole mass is still engaged. The owners do not have funds for expansion and reconstruction, although the potential of this place is huge.
The building of the center is located in the tourist vein of the Kaluga land opposite the ancient monastery of Tikhonov Pustyn, in the immediate vicinity of the famous Museum-diorama Standing on the Ugra.
The artistic director of the center, Gleb Danilov, invented and registered the Village Theater. “This project was thought up out of our despair - the old building requires immediate reconstruction, and the expansion hall, if we manage to find the money for this reconstruction, we can become a real theater. Children will be able to continue their studies, but under normal conditions, and on weekends, the Village Theater will show performances for all guests of the village and local residents! Local residents became the initiators of the theater,”says Gleb.
Gleb Danilov is an actor, graduated from the GITIS course of Vladimir Andreev, in 2018, having left the Kalyagin theater in which he served, he finally moved to the village. All funds from filming in the cinema are spent on the development of the Village Theater project. In 2020, he played the role of cadet Slavik Nikitin in the film "Podolsk Cadets".
It should be noted that the rural theater has already been registered and is the first non-state rural theater in our country. Leaders are not looking for "manna from heaven."
On December 13th, the project “Theater of the Village” was launched with the play "Teremok", the Kaluga Puppet Theater, which invited Gleb to the village. More than 60 children attended the performance, no one remained indifferent, and children's laughter accompanied the entire performance.
Reconstruction is needed. The building is already unprofitable, but if you do not start repairs soon, it will be unsafe to be in it. The theater staff launched a project to raise funds for reconstruction on the platform of public funding.
The project was supported by the famous rock musician Sergei Chigrakov. The Village Theater was also supported by famous musicians Yevgeny Margulis and Igor Rasteryaev. Many of them are already ready to come to the Theater of the Village at the end of the pandemic.
Such a site can make the village interesting and visited. But the most important thing is that if the reconstruction takes place, the children will be able to continue their studies.
