Dmitry Pevtsov never dreamed of an acting profession - since childhood his life was associated with sports: his father was an honored pentathlon coach of the USSR, and his mother was a sports doctor. From his youth, Dmitry was engaged in karate and judo, was fond of figure skating, horse riding, alpine skiing and swimming. After school, he planned to enter the Faculty of Physical Education at a pedagogical university, but then chance intervened in his plans.
Pevtsov's friend asked to support him in the entrance exams at the theater university. Dmitry also applied for the company. And it so happened that a friend did not pass the competition, and Pevtsov became a student of GITIS, after which he was accepted into the troupe of the Taganka Theater. At the age of 23, Pevtsov made his film debut, and 4 years later, in the early 1990s, his first popularity came to him after the lead role in the TV series "Nicknamed the Beast".
In the mid-1990s, when many actors were left without work, Pevtsov's film career took off: "Queen Margot", "Countess de Monsoro," demanded artists. And after the release in 2000 of the TV series "Gangster Petersburg-2", deafening fame came to him. Pevtsov was called the first superhero of the new Russian cinema - thanks to his athletic physique and bright appearance, he often embodied heroic images on screens.

In 2012, a tragedy happened in the life of Dmitry Pevtsov, which forever changed his worldview: his 22-year-old son Daniel died as a result of an accident. He was born in a civil marriage with Pevtsov's classmate Larisa Blazhko. The student marriage quickly disintegrated - both spouses were not yet ready for family life and raising a child, and for several years the actor lost contact with his son. Larisa, together with Daniel, left for Canada, where they spent 10 years. True, later every year they came to Russia so that Daniel could see his father, grandparents. And after they returned home, Dmitry Pevtsov began to communicate with his son more often.
Later, the actor could not forgive himself for the fact that at first he did not recognize his son and did not even consider him family, despite the fact that Daniel looked like him like two peas, and later, due to constant employment and focus on his career, he could not give the son has enough attention during the period of his growing up, in that difficult adolescence, when the boy especially urgently needs the support of his father. Mutual claims and grievances passed only when Daniel grew up, graduated from school and decided to follow in his father's footsteps. The actor admitted: "". But Pevtsov said that he really recognized his son only after he left, which he could not forgive himself.
Daniil graduated from the acting department of VGIK, began working at the "Theater of the Moon" and acting in films. Together with their father, they even managed to play in one film with a symbolic title - "Angel in the Heart". In the same 2012, he was gone. During a party for a meeting of school graduates, Daniel fell out of the balcony of the 3rd floor - he decided to balance on the railing and could not resist. Doctors failed to save him - a few days later he died in the hospital.
After the death of his son, Dmitry Pevtsov began to go to church often and found salvation in faith. He even said that he dreamed that his youngest son Elisha, born in a marriage with Olga Drozdova, would become not an actor, but a monk. The tragedy divided his life into "before" and "after", forced him to reconsider his values. The actor realized that what he had lived for before - professional success, popularity, vanity - were false priorities.
Dmitry Pevtsov publicly asked for forgiveness from everyone around him - from viewers, colleagues, relatives and even journalists: "".
The actor was greatly supported by his wife Olga Drozdova, with whom they devoted all their efforts to a new project - the Pevtsov-Theater acting studio. Together with the graduates of this studio, they prepared several performances. Dmitry Pevtsov admits that today he enjoys the success of his students no less than the achievements of his youngest son Elisha.
Dmitry Pevtsov remains in the profession and believes that by his example he can help other people survive their own misfortunes. Some of his colleagues are of the same opinion: 5 actors who returned to the cinema after intending to retire to a convent.
