Video: Living sculptures, wrapped in film. Performance by Laurence Malstaff

Someone paints pictures, someone sculpts sculptures, but just not Lawrence Malstaf … The Belgian artist places people between two layers of film and literally packs them up, turning them into living sculptures for the duration of the exhibition.
So Lawrence Malstaff is packing living people in film. Sounds like an idea for an excruciating death in another horror movie, doesn't it? But in fact, with such an unusual performance, the author wants to make people think about possible threats to their lives and how to protect themselves at the moment of such threats.
Those wishing to take part in a performance called "Shrink" stand between two layers of film, from where air is slowly pumped out, and as a result, the participants in the experiment find themselves wrapped like a product in a supermarket. However, there is no need to worry about the life of the models: firstly, the life-saving oxygen comes to them through a special tube, and secondly, next to each participant there is an assistant who stops the performance as soon as necessary, for example, in the event of a panic attack or danger.
People inside the plastic trap are not completely immobilized, but all their movements are extremely difficult and resemble movie frames played in slow motion. In short, it is simply impossible to forget about the impressions received from this performance, regardless of who you are - a “living sculpture” or a casual spectator.
Interestingly, most of the participants in the performance subsequently rated their being between the layers of plastic as a positive experience, comparing it to going back to the mother's womb.

Some artists and art groups are restlessly rushing from one style to another, while others at the very beginning of their creative path find what interests them and continue to move in this direction, developing and improving as an author, creator, creator. This is the principle behind the work of the Spanish collective Penique Productions, whose installation Wrapped In Plastic m

I wonder what it feels like to be a living statue? What is there! A living statue is a whole profession. And a real Mecca for its amateurs and professionals - La Rambla street in the Spanish city of Barcelona
Living wood sculptures: tree shaping
Sculptures made of wood are not necessarily rough ancient idols, small netsuke and gloomy tree stumps in kindergartens. It is not always necessary to destroy a living plant in order to give it a new unusual shape - this premise lies at the heart of an interesting hobby called Tree shaping, or arborsculpture - or, roughly translated into Russian, tree modeling
