This type of competition originated in Australia in the 1970s: the highlight of the show were the Afghan hounds, and the dachshund races were more of a laughing matter. But when dog racing became the property of the United States, they paid special attention to "sausage dogs". Basically, the popularity of dog racing with dachshunds can be explained: larger breeds easily develop such a breakneck speed that spectators will not have time to chew a handful of popcorn when the race is over.
