French artist Matilda Aubier (Mathilde aubier) creates collages in the best traditions of pop art: at first glance, they seem to be a provocation, but whether Obier is really trying to provoke someone, or is he simply drawing attention to himself, remains a mystery.
As a rule, Matilda Aubier collects her works "brick by brick" from all sorts of scraps - newspapers that have turned yellow with time, glamorous magazines, old black and white photos and even music notebooks are used. The artist does not earn her living by art - on the contrary, professional skills serve her as a strong help in her favorite hobby: Obie is a designer of a well-known studio Ma + Chr.
The works of Matilda Aubier are very popular: the young artist is not yet thirty years old, but her pop-art experiments have already been collected under the cover in the form of a single book. In addition, among the publications that have published catchy illustrations and collages of the Frenchwoman at various times, there are Wired, Washington Post, Le Monde and many others.
The collage nature of Matilda Obier's art also refers to the works of honored "classics" of pop art - provocateurs like Roy Lichtenstein, and to the absurd cartoons of Terry Gilliam during his participation in the comic troupe "Monty Python" … One way or another, methods that have already worked out in our time do not seem to be a bold leap forward - they managed to "become bourgeois" and no longer look fresh; but they still enjoy success, as evidenced by the demand for artists like Matilda Aubier.
