The International Landscape Festival "Imperial Gardens of Russia" opened on June 8 in the Mikhailovsky Garden of St. Petersburg and will run until June 17. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Museum.
This year the festival is being held for the fifth time, dedicated to the history of Russia, which it will show through the development of gardens. The most famous Russian museum-reserves, landscape designers from various Russian cities and from England, Germany, Czech Republic, France and Belarus will take part in the festival.
Landscape specialists from Russia and France will present a joint dedication project to French architects and master of landscape architecture Jean-Baptiste Alexander Leblond. He was the first chief architect of St. Petersburg, the author of the general plan of 1717 and took part in the construction of Strelna and Peterhof. The joint project demonstrates the interpenetration and mutual influence of two great cultures.
This year, most of the festival's projects are joint projects. For example, the Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo, Gatchina, Peterhof and Pavlovsk have teamed up to work on the Imperial Monograms project. The composition is a symbol of statehood and shows the involvement of the imperial family in the emergence of gardens in Tsarskoe Selo, Peterhof, Gatchina, Pavlovsk and Mikhailovsky and the Summer Garden.
The "Innovation Pavilion" houses a mini-park, where modern landscape technologies and garden-decorative equipment will be presented. The interactive exposition will allow you to get acquainted with the possibilities of high technologies in the creation of squares and parks.
The organizers promise that there will be a lot of music at the festival: a horn chapel concert, folk songs, romance evenings and the already traditional "Kvartirnik". Visitors will be able to become not just spectators, but also participants in various master classes.
