There are many vibrant cities on Earth, but some of them are especially fabulous. These are cities with colorful houses. The abundance of colors in them is simply stunning, and each building is like a fragment of a large colored mosaic. Such cities are scattered across the continents, they are found both in the north and in the south. Moreover, as practice shows, the "colorfulness" of a city does not at all depend on the standard of living of its inhabitants - colorful cities are found in rich countries and in poor ones. By the way, one of the brightest settlements on the planet is the city located in Chukotka.
Wroclaw
The ancient Polish city of Wroclaw (the old Russian name is Breslavl), which, by the way, is one of the five best cities in the country, is located on the banks of the Odra. It is famous not only for its rich history, but also for its brightly colored houses, which, combined with ancient architecture, makes Wroclaw simply fabulous.
However, given the fact that the city is over a thousand years old, even in addition to colorful houses, there is something to see here. For example, on the gnomes, which are quite a lot in the city.
San Juan
Old San Juan (El Vejo San Juan) is located in the west of the state of Puerto Rico and is famous for historical buildings and structures of the XVI-XVII centuries. Its streets are paved with blue stone, and the buildings are full of various shades. The city center is especially colorful.
The abundance of vegetation on houses, windows, balconies also adds color. By the way, old San Juan is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Anadyr
The harsh landscape of the permafrost zone adorns the administrative center of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and the easternmost city of Russia, Anadyr, as a bright spot. It is so colorful that it was even unofficially nicknamed the most colorful city in Russia. Most of the houses in this small Chukchi town are five-story and stand on stilts. But, more surprisingly, their walls are painted in incredibly bright colors, and on some you can see the creations of artists.
They began painting houses here under the governor Roman Abramovich, whom most local residents remember with warmth. In general, the town is cozy, quiet and comfortable.
Willemstad
The administrative center of the self-governing state formation of Curacao is the vibrant and colorful city of Willemstad. It is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is located in the south of the Caribbean. The trading settlement was founded here by the Dutch in the first half of the 17th century.
The modern city includes several historic districts, and each of them has its own architecture (there is even a Jewish district). And the abundance of bright colors in architecture makes the city even more extravagant.
Reykjavik
In fact, in Iceland, not only the capital is famous for its colorful houses, but also very small settlements, but Reykjavik, as a large tourist center, attracts special attention.
The tradition of painting houses appeared here less than fifty years ago. In ancient times, Icelanders used to tarry houses (with the help of tar, wood that was in short supply here was preserved longer), and therefore the buildings were usually black. Gradually, with the appearance of wood paints, the houses became more elegant - first gray, and then multi-colored.
The vibrant palette of buildings fits perfectly into the beautiful Icelandic landscape, where the wilderness is simply delightful.
Al Alto and La Paz
The Bolivian city of El Alto, located in the harsh Alps, amazes with its alien appearance: the houses here are not just colorful, but also very strange - as if from a science fiction movie.
The young local architect Freddie Mamani Silvestre came up with the idea of standing for extravagant colorful buildings in this mountainous area, which is not distinguished by a variety of natural colors.
By the way, the modern metropolis of La Paz (the capital of Bolivia), to which the town of El Alto adjoins, is not inferior to its “alien” neighbor in the abundance of colors.
