The conflict in the Gaza Strip has been going on for more than ten years, and during this time the local people managed not only to get used to, but, perhaps, to adapt to the events taking place. Moreover, during this time, children managed to grow up who did not see anything else. They are accustomed to playing among the ruins, sleeping in houses without roofs and windows, not having fun with toys, but with everything they can find in ruined cities.

Children remain children even in such harsh circumstances. They want to play, they want to make friends and explore the world. Photographer Emad Samir Nassar (Emad Samir Nassar) has been publishing photographs from the conflict zone for several years now, and it is the photographs with children that cause the greatest resonance. "This is the wrong place for kids, they don't belong there," many commentators agree.

For his photo of children bathing in a bathtub in the middle of the ruins, Emad won the award in 2015. As he himself says, the picture was not staged, he accidentally came across this scene and took the picture just automatically. The photographer recognized the names of these people - Salem Saodi (30 years old), his daughter Layan (left) and Shaimaa's niece (right). The next year, after receiving awards (the picture won two awards at once - Sharjah Prize and UNRWA-EU), Emad returned to this city and tried to find this family, but could not find them.
