If you visit Glenda Ewarts, you will definitely see Karen, a tiny toddler lying in a newborn car seat. She weighs about 2.5 kilograms, her large dark blue eyes are staring at you, and her fluffy hair slightly covers her ears. She even smells as sweet as any newborn. You stop to watch her breathe, but you see nothing. After all, Karen is an incredibly realistic doll created by Glenda Evarts.
Glenda Evarts worked as a chef for many years, but six years ago, when she became pregnant, everything changed. While trying to find information on children's clothes on the Internet, Glenda accidentally saw material about a doll sculpture on one of the sites. The expectant mother decided to try her hand at this business and found that she had an exceptional ability in turning faceless vinyl dolls into copies of real babies.
"I think it's very easy," says Glenda of the doll making process, which takes about a month, "although other people find it incredibly difficult." It all starts with a parcel in which the author is sent "materials" for the future sculpture: vinyl heads and body parts. With the help of glue, Glenda glues the parts together, and placed inside metal or glass beads provide the future newborn with the necessary weight. Then the author paints the doll, applying paint layer by layer using various brushes and sponges.
The painted baby is placed in an oven to dry the paint, and after that the complex process of "extension" of hair begins. True, Glenda herself claims that she does not see anything complicated in him. However, judge for yourself: the author has to "implant" thin threads of mohair yarn into the doll's head one by one, and up to 20 thousand of them are required. The author's patience and perseverance can only be envied.
To date, Glenda Evarts, a mother of three, has created about 500 dolls, and virtually all of them have been sold. Among the new owners of babies are ordinary collectors and loving parents who want to have a "copy" of their child after he grows up.
