People who do not have a roof over their heads cause pity in some, sympathy in others, and aggression in others. What do we know about them? As a rule, nothing, because hardly any of us would think to communicate with a person who is gradually losing all ties with society. However, New Zealand photographer Michael Pharaoh I am convinced that, despite all the difficulties, these people do not lose their human appearance, because in their eyes you can still see various shades of feelings.
Social photography is not uncommon in modern life. On the site Kulturologiya. Ru we have already written about the portraits of French homeless people, now it's time to remember about the American ones. The people whose images were captured by Michael Pharaoh live in Los Angeles, a city that is considered one of the largest cultural, economic, educational and, of course, entertainment centers in the world. The project is named succinctly - "The Homeless of L. A." ("Homeless from L.-A.").
Michael Pharaoh's photo project is a testament to the harsh reality, life devoid of color. Perhaps that is why black-and-white and gray colors dominate in the pictures. The photographer fixes his gaze directed directly at the cameras. It seems as if these disadvantaged people look directly into our souls.
The artist himself admits that in New Zealand there are not as many homeless people as in America, so working on the project was not only interesting for him, but also quite difficult. It was necessary to communicate with each of these people, find a common language, find out how it happened that they had to live on the street. Of course, the photographer managed to do an excellent job with the task: the people in the pictures turned out to be alive, sincere and human. Perhaps such projects will contribute to the fact that the attitude towards homeless people in modern society will gradually change for the better.

The Levitation Project. Levitation in a photo project by David Nemcsik
The career of a young Hungarian photographer David Nemczyk dates back to the entrance exams: a beginner photographer had to create a photo project for admission to the university. He immediately decided on the topic, since levitation always seemed to him something amazing and very desirable. Of course, Nemchik could not create such photographs on his own, and then friends came to his aid, who are in the pictures and soar in the air, and in the most unexpected and picturesque places. So singing
Empty Los Angeles: Photo Project by Matt Logue
Imagine the streets of any more or less large city. Now imagine that they are completely free of cars. No traffic jams. No accidents. No noise. No movement at all. It was from this point of view that Matt Logue looked at Los Angeles in his photography project, freeing the city's streets from traffic and people
Portraits of French homeless people in the project Musee Urbain
We recently wrote about unusual gunpowder portraits depicting Donetsk miners from coal and salt mines - art project "1040 m underground" by Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang. Non-standard faces, colorful figures, picturesque images … And the French street artists from the Artisme association found color and non-standard on the surface. Homeless men living in the backyards of Paris and other French cities became the main characters of their project Musee Urbain
Hold on tight to the steering wheel, dog: an unusual social project to protect homeless animals (New Zealand)
The problem of homeless animals is one of the most pressing in the modern world. New Zealand decided to come up with a creative approach to its solution and launched a new social project, the purpose of which is to remind people that mongrels are no worse than purebred dogs, and therefore also deserve love and care. Members of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals took an unusual step: they trained three mongrels to drive a car to show how
