For 25 years, photographer Brad Lewis has been photographing the fiery flows of molten magma from active volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawaii. The stunning beauty of the living lava flow, the heat of the erupting spray is felt in every photo, frightening and bewitching the audience at the same time.
Brad Lewis is an internationally renowned leading nature and volcano photographer. His photographs of volcanoes have appeared on many magazine covers, including Life, Natural History, Photographer's Forum, Earth, and many others. Brad's photographs have won numerous awards. Exhibitions of his work are held in many cities around the world. A collection of photographs called "LavArt" is presented in galleries, museums, as well as in private collections. In a series of paintings entitled "LavArt", the photographer uses the movement, light and texture of volcanic activity to give people a sense of the pulse of the Earth. Brad Lewis's photographs appear regularly in books, magazines, calendars, catalogs, postcards, posters.
Inspired by beauty, diversity and spirit of adventure, photographer Brad Lewis travels several months a year to Hawaii and Alaska in pursuit of fiery and hot photo masterpieces. When the photographer for the first time saw liquid lava, he realized that he had never seen the life of the planet before, but here it is in full swing, proving that the Earth is a dynamic living organism.
The photographer moved to the Hawaiian Big Island back in 1982, and lives there with his wife and daughter on the slope of the Kilauea volcano. The photographer is always on the lookout for and chasing natural pictures painted by molten magma. Enchanting landscapes are open only to the most courageous eyes.
The purpose of Brad Lewis's photographs is to show the viewer all the beauty of nature, so that he can appreciate the natural world, the beauty and power of its natural phenomena. The planet's vibrant pulse can be heard in many places, but nowhere more clearly than over the Kilauea volcano on the Big Island, Hawaii. Kilauea is the most active volcano on Earth. He is a noble, raging, but friendly, and scientifically interesting erupting phenomenon. Brad Lewis speaks of the volcano as a friend, or even a relative. The volcano has its own mood, its own disposition. Kilauea is the heartbeat of the planet.
Nature is challenging, which the photographer resolutely accepts by capturing bursts of lava and fire on camera. The danger is extremely great. Sometimes the conditions for the equipment are just terrible, but what cannot be done for the sake of art.
