Most people associate the word “knitting” with handmade clothes, soft and fluffy sweaters, warm socks and scarves, as well as with elderly women who, sitting by the fireplace, make something with their own hands for children and grandchildren. Such is the stereotype, but not always true. After all, knitting is a leisure time not only for people of age, but also a hobby of many young designers who create knitted clothes in the form of food, or various knitted crafts and home decorations.
Berlin artist Sarah Illenberger surprised the audience with a very interesting anatomical project. She presented knitted human organs, which she created with her own hands using ordinary threads and knitting needles. A very unusual approach to the study of anatomy, which the designer herself seems to know quite well, if she was able to create such detailed models of the heart and lungs. One of the advantages of knitted dummies is that they are very easy and simple to bring with you, unlike plaster or cardboard models, they will not wrinkle at all, even if you put them in your purse. Such is the stylish anatomical guide.
If someone asks to tell more about the Berlin-based designer Sarah Illenberger and her work, it is very difficult to do. She is an artist, illustrator and concept designer. Sarah Illenberger illustrates fashion shows, various collections in fashion magazines, creates original collages, installations and photographs. And everything she does, she does with a humorous touch and a great love of detail. Each of her projects is a unique work of art, created from the most common materials.
