The astonishing installation of 200 pairs of shoes was created by a Finnish artist based in London named Riitta Ikonen. Riitta Ikonen turned ordinary men's and women's shoes, sandals, slippers, slates, sandals into real shoe masterpieces, brightly decorating and decorating them with feathers, puzzles and whatever came to hand.
The Finnish artist created the installation as part of a campaign run by the international public organization Actionaid, which aims to combat violence against women and to help treat HIV and AIDS.
A very unusual installation created from 200 pairs of old shoes, which were donated by people specifically for the project. Ikonen has reworked hundreds of shoes, pre-decorating and changing their design and style. Still, most of the couples were painted black and placed on special stands. The redesigned models were placed on transparent stands among a dark mass of matching shoes to enhance their new shape and creative design.
