Video: Who is missing in the world? Jessica Jocelyn's Strange Animals

Sculptor Jessica Jocelyn, 40, would like to see more wonderful animals on earth than nature has given us. But - that's bad luck! - such animals, as the artist dreams, do not exist in the world, and the sculptor has to invent them on his own. So strange animals of bones, fabric, leather and metal appear, with pensive and sad eyes.
The future sculptor Jessica Joslin was born in Boston. As a child, she loved to look out the window and crush flies, and then examine them under a microscope. And even at this tender age, she began, like forty, to collect various funny things - ingenuous children's belongings. The collection was replenished after trips to antique shops, flea markets, taxidermist offices and after ordinary walks in the forest. After many years, all these findings went into action.
Jessica Jocelyn admits that most often she begins to dance from the texture of materials and the shape of objects from which a new sculpture is to be made.
So what are these animals made of? To make strange sculptures, Jessica Jocelyn uses animal bones and horns, glass eyes, metal bracelets, saxophone valves, strings, leather gloves, velvet, shoe spoons and much, much more. Accordingly, the more materials, the more you need to use ways to connect them: bone and bronze cannot be glued as easily as pieces of fabric or leather.
Jessica Jocelyn became interested in taxidermy while still in college. She fished out dead birds from the local fountain (the poor fellows often broke against the glass facade of the building) and during this occupation, by the way, she met her future spouse - the first advisor in matters of sculpture.
Some of Jessica Jocelyn's strange animals change body position: you can move their head, open their beak, move their tail thanks to hidden mechanisms. The works seem even more amazing when you learn that the craftswoman mastered the anatomy of animals on her own. The sizes of the unusual sculptures range from a few centimeters to almost two meters.
Jessica Jocelyn says the animal's body is an amazing machine. It is a pleasure to see this living mechanism in motion. The sculptor loves to visit natural history museums and the circus museum located near Chicago: there is always something to see, there the creator of strange animals most often draws inspiration.
