Perhaps Bloemencorso is one of the most exciting summer festivals! Its name literally means "flower parade" and it takes place in different cities of the Netherlands and Belgium! Huge sculptures made of steel wire, cardboard, papier-mâché are transported along the streets on special devices. And, of course, decorated with flowers! Local florists are real “gourmets” - they exclusively use dahlias for their masterpieces! More than a thousand buds are used for each piece of art.

Jersey Battle of Flowers is another unusual festival. It takes place on the island of Jersey in the English Channel, and its name literally translates as “battle of flowers.” This name is not accidental: for the first time this festival took place in 1902 in honor of the coronation of King Edward VII. Then the carnival really resembled a battle: the participants of the procession threw flowers into the crowd, and the spectators threw these flowers back. Today the Jersey Battle of Flowers is held peacefully: the “flower” parade is accompanied by music, dances and fanfare, and ends with a gorgeous fireworks display!

The Spalding Flower Parade, which is held in Lincolnshire, also has a "royal" history. It was originally timed to coincide with the anniversary of King George V and Queen Mary in 1935. The preference was given to tulips, which were in abundance during this period. In subsequent years, the holiday became traditional and “stretched out” for a whole week! In 1959, the first official tulip parade took place, featuring installations of these wonderful flowers!
