This year is the Year of Great Britain and Russia Music. As part of this cross-over large project, a regional program was opened in the Russian resort town of Sochi. The opening took place at the Winter Theater on April 4. During this event, the Sochi Symphony Orchestra performed Tchaikovsky's Second Piano Concerto together with George Harliono, a famous pianist from Great Britain.
Representatives of the news media managed to talk to Anton Lubchenko, who is the artistic director of the Sochi Symphony Orchestra. He drew attention to the fact that regional programs were launched in Sochi. He hopes that this relay race will soon be picked up by other cities of the Russian Federation, other regions of the country and other creative teams will be involved in such events. He drew attention to the fact that the musical culture of Great Britain differs significantly from the Russian one. At the same time, there is something in common in the culture of these two countries. The time has come to pay special attention to building cultural relations that would not only give a lot of positive emotions, but also unite people.
During his speech, the artistic director decided to pay special attention to the fact that many musical surprises await guests during his speech. He said that on the territory of the Russian Federation, the musician George Harliono is quite famous, recognizable, he previously had to take part in performances with many conductors. But the British pianist was in Sochi for the first time.
The Year of Music of Great Britain and Russia is a continuation of the programs that took place in previous years. Such programs were previously the Year of Language, Year of Culture, Year of Science and Education. And all these are cross programs between Russia and Great Britain. The year of music is scheduled to end in the middle of next 2020. The closure of this program will take place in Moscow. The closure is planned to be the Georg Handel Festival, with many British artists taking part. The Russian part of the program has not yet opened. Its opening will take place in London in July this year and this program will begin with a performance by the Bolshoi Theater.
