On October 3, the Gokhran of the Russian Federation opened an exhibition, in the exposition of which Russian jewelry of the 19th century from the closed collection of the State Fund was presented to the general public for the first time.
At the exhibition you can see items produced by one of the largest in Russia in the 19th century, the Sazikov jewelry company, as well as by masters of world famous jewelry houses - Karl Faberge, Karl Bolin, Ivan Khlebnikov, Pavel Ovchinnikov. Many of the products presented at the exhibition have never been exhibited before
Russian Finance Minister Anon Siluanov, who was present at the opening of the exhibition, said that Gokhran opened a new milestone in its activities by making jewelry that can be considered as works of art available to citizens.
At the opening of the exhibition, the presentation of the book "The Sazikovs Jewelry House" took place, the authors of which highlight the artistic features and history of the work of this jewelry school. Experts note that this book was the first study of the creativity and history of the Sazikovs' company.
The jewelry company was founded by the former serf Pavel Sazikov in 1796, and then his sons and grandchildren became the successors of the jewelry business. The Sazikovs' Jewelry House supplied products to the Russian imperial court and Western European aristocrats. The products of the Sazikov jewelry house were awarded the highest awards in 1851 at the first World Exhibition in London and in 1867 at an exhibition in Paris.
It was this company that was one of the first to develop artistic jewelry in the "Russian style". Among the most famous works are a two-meter-high silver candelabrum, made in the form of a sculptural group depicting Prince Dmitry Donskoy on the Kulikovo Field, and the Troika table decoration, created according to a drawing by Yevgeny Lanceray. This piece has been executed many times in bronze and silver.
