No matter how much the older generation kept saying that “it was better before,” the facts keep repeating that it was the same before, just not with us and not about us. Thus, the Boston Public Library organized an exhibition of old photographs taken at the beginning of the last century by a photographer Leslie Jones, who filmed all road accidents in and around Boston for more than five years for the Herald Traveler newspaper. Judging by the pictures, reckless drivers, "blondes" and "bought rights for fat" were operating on the roads long before us. Despite the fact that at that time cars could reach speeds of no more than 70 km / h, drivers still managed to crash into poles and trees, dive from a bridge into the water, fall into holes, collide with trains and become the culprits of other accidents on the roads. This was facilitated by the introduction of installments when buying a car, which allowed cars to become available even to "commoners". In addition, at that time the rules of the road did not exist as such. I bought a car, sat down and drove off.

Leslie Jones' family donated about 34,000 photographs to the Boston Library. All of them are exhibited in the creative gallery and are available for public study. For the edification of descendants, as a reminder to the ancestors.
