Ernst Simon Bloch was convinced that if the person on the journey remains the same, it is a bad journey. We can say with confidence that a trip to Yemen can be a real adventure for every tourist. This amazing eastern country has a lot of attractions. One of them - Dar al Khayyar - a castle located on a rock, the image of which serves as the hallmark of the state, because in its beauty it is not inferior to many architectural masterpieces of the world.
On the territory of Yemen, there are several attractions that are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Among them are the ancient cities of Shibam and Zabid, as well as the exotic island-reserve Socotra. Despite the fact that the significance of the architectural monument Dar al Khayyar is much more modest, it will be interesting to visit it for tourists. True, it is quite possible to mistake it for a fairy mirage, since a castle was built in the very heart of the Wadi desert.
For many years there were no kings or presidents in Yemen. Only in 1999 was the head of state elected for the first time, and before that the country was ruled by an imam. The unusual palace was built by Imam Yahya in the 1930s, it was designed as a summer residence of a religious leader. Yahya was killed in 1948, Dar al Haiyar was restored over the years, and a five-story museum was equipped in it. The castle has many rooms, among which there are several conference rooms that were used by the imam for meetings with dignitaries, separate "women's" rooms, storage rooms. In addition, there are systems for cooling water and even a well, which is especially important in the desert.
