Jani Strino (Strino Gianni) was born in Naples in 1953. Currently, having his own creative workshop, the master continues to live and work in his homeland in Italy.
While studying at the Naples Lyceum of Arts, showing an aptitude for architecture, the young Jani was attracted by the charm of the illustrated arts. He drops out and devotes all his time to painting. Strino was inspired by the creations of Leonardo and Raphael and was deeply imbued with the ideals of high renaissance.
The feeling of the harmony of the world, the life-giving power of nature, the combination of sensuality and nobility is a characteristic feature of Strino's painting.
All portrait compositions by the master are wonderful examples of painting and deep reflections on the human personality. The works seem to be moving, breathing - thanks to the special alternation of deep shadow and light, sometimes dazzling, sometimes gentle. The forms in his paintings are carnally tangible, but they are written so softly, affectionately that they acquire poetic ideality.
The image of a young, almost young woman, depicted by Jani, embodies the type of sublime, ideal and at the same time cheerful earthly beauty. Balance of composition, harmony and peaceful calm reign in the space of the picture.
The complexity and clarity of building a composition indicate that the artist has a deep knowledge of architecture and perspective. The ability to place figures in a natural way, filling the composition with movement and meaning, immediately put the young artist one step higher.
Strino investigated the laws of optics very deeply and applied chiaroscuro not only to create visual volume on a plane, but also to give bodies a “special charm”. Chiaroscuro is used by the master both for modeling the form, and as a means of "animating" the characters. Usually, on his canvases, the source of illumination is obscured; figures and objects are illuminated in contrast to the shadow from which they emerge.
The artist began to paint his magnificent still lifes, exercising in search of light solutions and trying to recognize the rich palette of colors.
“An excellent portrait painter and master of wonderful still lifes, Strino manages to convey light and shade with an absolutely confident technique. His work today shows us the unique maturity of his talent. Although he is in constant search for a new expression of his skill, in art the artist always adheres to the basic principles of painting: graceful drawing, composition and color."

How to understand the painting of Jan Vermeer - the wizard of light and shadow of the Golden Age of Holland
The best way to understand Jan Vermeer as an artist is to look closely at his paintings. Jan Vermeer is one of the outstanding masters of the Golden Age of Holland, a wizard of light and shadow, a brilliant representative of the "small Dutch". His painting is represented by a very small number of works of the everyday genre (no more than 40), but from this no less ingenious and skillfully executed. His works often capture scenes from everyday life, refer to trends of the times and are rich in symbolism
Fabrizio Corneli - master of light and shadow
Italian Fabrizio Corneli is a true master of light and shadow. At night, in the absence of lighting, or in the daytime, in cloudy weather, his works may well be mistaken for shapeless metal objects, it is not clear why they are attached to the wall. But as soon as a source of light appears - no matter whether natural or artificial - the images conceived by the author begin to appear along with it
Wire figures that become pictures. Playing with light and shadow by Larry Kagan
I believe that you are all familiar with the characters of the world's most famous theater - the shadow theater - from early childhood. American artist Larry Kagan still loves to participate in such "productions", however, instead of fingers, he uses wire figures that he makes himself
