One of the consequences Global warming will be the increased level of the World Ocean. Not only small island states such as Tuvalu or Nauru will go under water, but also large cities. Such as New York. This and dedicated light installation DUMBO Underwater, installed on one of the streets of Brooklyn as part of the DUMBO Arts FestivalOpens.
It seems that in this world, few people care about the fate of the population of the island states of the Pacific Ocean - Nauru, Tonga, Tuvalu, which, due to Global Warming, may completely disappear from the political and geographical maps of the Earth. But if the level of the World Ocean rises, then Brooklyn, the most densely populated area of New York, will also go under the water. And this will leave few people indifferent.
Here is the future of Brooklyn, which may be underwater, and dedicated to the light installation DUMBO Underwater, installed on one of the streets of this area.
This installation consists of several windows onto which a video image of the ocean is projected. So any passer-by can see what this street will look like in a hundred years, if the process of Global Warming cannot be stopped or at least slowed down.
As part of the installation, from the inside of the showcase, between it and the projector, from time to time a person or several people appear who can pretend they are swimming, basking in the water, or just walking along the flooded streets of Brooklyn.
The DUMBO Underwater installation will be on display until October 13, 2010. To get a better idea of what it looks like from the point of view of the average Brooklyn passer-by, you can watch this video:
