What associations do we have when we hear the word "diffraction"? Most likely, for the majority it will be a school physics course - and certainly not a work of art. But the installation by the French author Etienne Rey is called that way, and it proves that it is the knowledge of the laws of physics that can make a work of art a real masterpiece.

Etienne Rey is an author whose area of interest lies in the intersection of sound, space and sculpture. All his works pursue one main goal: to show our world from a phenomenological perspective in such a way as to reveal systemic principles and generic relations. Moreover, this is the principle of coexistence, according to which all elements and objects are in relationship with each other and interact with the environment in the same way as the environment interacts with them. Consequently, the author's goal is to reveal these organizing principles, these mutually responsive mechanisms through their interconnections.

According to Etienne Ray, diffraction in a state of zero gravity stops right in the process of its development, revealing every color and shade of the chromatic circle. Plastic installation "Diffraction" also includes the phenomena of resonance and light reflection. The installation is very versatile: each angle of the exposure allows the viewer to discover and experience a new form (flashes of light, vortices, echoes), to reflect on the issues of space, gravity and perception. In addition, "Diffraction" includes a soundtrack by French musician Mathias Delplanque.
