Application is an art familiar to everyone from childhood. But it's one thing when a five-year-old child carves a tree figure, and quite another when a professional artist does it. For example, like Fideli Sundqvist.
The talented girl was born in 1987 in Uppsala (Sweden). From early childhood, she was fond of drawing and music, so the parents could not decide for a long time which of the child's talents to develop. They did not have the means to pay for two circles at once. The family was poor, and Fideli Sundqvist still often recalls drying her drawings in a tiny kitchen on a clothesline next to wet clothes.
But it was the difficult financial situation that determined the further fate of the girl. Somehow the young student had to wrap the textbooks, but since there were no ordinary covers, she had to look for a way out of the situation, using everything that was found in the house. And when the student came up with the idea of using ordinary linoleum as a cover, fancifully carving it for this, Fideli Sundqvist realized that art is everywhere.
After finishing school, the young artist moves to Stockholm and enters first at Nyckelviksskolan, and then at Konstfack. After graduating from both schools, Fideli Sundqvist embarks on a career as a designer. But the habit of cutting figures from colored paper remains, so the girl continues to develop her talent, creating more and more complex paper collages each time.
By the way, we have already introduced readers to the work of Fideli Sundqvist in one of our previous reviews. This time, the artist chose simpler shapes, a casual theme, and vibrant colors. But this did not make the work worse.
