2024 Author: Richard Flannagan | [email protected]. Last modified: 2023-12-15 23:55
The sphere of interests of women has long ceased to be limited only to home and family. Women in different countries boldly take responsibility and become the heads of entire states. Femininity in them is combined with persistence in achieving the intended, subtle humor - with a serious attitude to life, femininity and charm - with sober practicality. The real women who occupy the presidency deserve special respect.
Kersti Kaljulaid, Estonia
Kersti Kaljulaid took the presidency in 2016. She graduated from the Faculty of Biology of the University of Tartu, then there she received an MBA, worked in the banking sector and was an adviser to the Prime Minister on economics, headed a power plant, and was engaged in auditing. She studies all her life, is not afraid of new things and dreams of Estonia becoming one of the richest and most prosperous countries in the world.
Halima Jacob, Singapore
She studied jurisprudence at the National University of Singapore, where she earned her Bachelor's degree and then her Master's in Law. She began her career in the Congress of Trade Unions, then became a member of parliament, which she later headed and became the first woman speaker in the history of her country. In September 2017, she became the President of Singapore. Halima Jacob is not only a successful politician, but also a mother of five children.
Salome Zurabishvili, Georgia
In December 2018, Salome Zurabishvili became the first woman president in the history of Georgia. She studied political science, first at the Paris Institute of Political Science and then at Columbia University. She held fairly high posts in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then served in the General Secretariat of National Defense of France, later became ambassador to Georgia, and then headed the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2010, she left politics, and in 2018 she won the presidential elections in Georgia, being a non-partisan candidate.
Zuzana Chaputova, Slovakia
In the summer of 2019, she took office as President of Slovakia, just like her counterpart from Georgia, becoming the first female president in her country. Zuzana Chaputova is a lawyer by education, she worked for a long time in a civic association and in self-government bodies. She has always taken an active civic position and is a laureate of the Goldman environmental award. She has become a new face in the political arena of Slovakia, and the citizens of this country sincerely believe that under the leadership of Zuzana Czaputova, Slovakia will become a prosperous country.
Sahle Work Zewde, Ethiopia
For many years, Sahle-Work Zewde was engaged in diplomatic activities, was the Ambassador of Ethiopia in several countries, actively cooperated with the UN, was a special representative of this organization, headed its branch at the African Union, was the UN Director General in Nairobi. And in 2018 she became the first woman to take over as President of Ethiopia.
Paula Mae Weeks, Trinidad and Tobago
She not only became the first female president of her country, but was also elected to this position, being the only candidate on election day. Paula-Mae Weeks has practiced law throughout her life, serving as a judge in the Turks and Caicos Islands Court of Appeals.
Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, Malta
She did not become the first woman to lead Malta, but she became the first representative of the fairer sex to lead the party and, having assumed the presidency, turned out to be the youngest head of Malta in history. At the time of her inauguration, Marie-Louise was 55 years old.
Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Croatia
She was brought up in a small village near Rijeka, and at the age of 17 she was able to win a grant, thanks to which she studied in the United States. Later she received a master's degree in international relations from the University of Zagreb, but improved her knowledge in several American educational institutions. She served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Croatia, served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, was her country's ambassador to the United States. In early 2015, she won the presidential elections.
Most argue that politics is not a woman's business. But there were enough of those people in the world who were able to prove that this stereotypical statement is incorrect. And if you do not agree, then we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the list from ten political leaders "in a skirt" who were very famous at one time in such a difficult, and most importantly, non-feminine activity.
