Perpetual promotions are taking place in New York from September 17 Occupy Wall Street, which spread to many cities in the United States of America and many cities in the world. Recently, participants in this action began to use their own currency - Occupy George Dollars … True, use it not as a means of payment, but as a visual campaign.
Banknotes, in particular American dollars, have long been used to create works of art. Examples include dollar wallpaper from Hans-Peter Feldmann, dollar carving technique from Scott Campbell, money sculptures from Justine Smith, or origami from Dan Thug dollars. The Occupy Wall Street protesters also creatively approached their national currency. Their dollars have become propaganda leaflets.
The main slogans of the anti-capitalist protests of Occupy Wall Street are based on the opposition of numbers 1 and 99. After all, it is precisely one percent of the inhabitants of the United States of America that owns the vast majority of the country's resources and finances. And the remaining 99 percent of residents are forced to barely make ends meet, if not even live below the poverty line.
This opposition 1-99 is displayed graphically on the Occupy George campaign dollars. For example, on one of these dollar bills is the inscription "Future ownership of one percent." On the other, an infographic is drawn showing the proportion of the American economy owned by 1 percent and 99 percent of the US population in the 1920s, 1960s, and 2000s.
In the third type of campaign, 99 percent of the bill's area is easily shaded and 1 percent is densely shaded, which again symbolizes the share of property in the US economy of 1 percent of the population and 99 percent of it.
Of course, these promotional flyers are not created on real dollar bills, they are printed on the home and office printers of Occupy Wall Street members. Moreover, at the personal request and personal initiative of these same participants.
