Few people take the ancient adage about "time to collect stones" literally. But not an Australian sculptor Chris Booth … He knows how to collect stones better than anyone else, and after collecting a sufficient number, he constructs amazing sculptures and installations, vaguely reminiscent of balancing stones in land art Michael Grab … But only remotely, because the sculptures of Chris Booth are not based on balancing stones, but from smooth river stones he builds structures that amaze the imagination with their size, scale and power. Art critics compare Chris Booth's sculptures to woven cloth. Unless woven not from threads, but from pebbles tightly fitted to each other without the help of tools, but by selecting stones of the desired shape and size. Therefore, such structures can rightfully be called the joint work of man and nature, especially since they look natural and organic in the bosom of nature, leading to reflections on ancient civilizations, Stonehenge and other inexplicable phenomena that archaeologists and historians have been trying to unravel for hundreds of years. geologists, geographers and other scientific specialists.
The sculptor erects large-scale structures that are difficult to ignore from smooth stones and cobblestones, processed by wind, sand and water. One of his first works, the so-called "Cave", is made up of several thousand pieces of limestone, rolled by the sea waves, and is located on the territory where the ancient sanctuary of the Maori people was located. Taking into account the peculiarity of the location, the author tried to emphasize the importance of this place and convey the Maori ideas about the "local spirits" with characteristic patterns woven into the general "canvas" of the sculpture. Other sculptures by Chris Booth are no less original. For example, a memorial Rainbow warrior memorial, erected on the cliffs of Matori Bay in memory of the sunken ship of Greenpeace. The crew of the Rainbow Warrior consisted of activists who opposed French nuclear tests in the Pacific, and for this was blown up by French government agents in 1985.
Sculptures and installations by Chris Booth are not only artistic, but also of historical importance. You can learn more about the work of the New Zealand maestro on his website.

Stone sculptures by Chris Booth
Unlike people who have a habit of leaving no stone unturned, New Zealand artist Chris Booth uses stones to build sculptures. And he does it all his free time and, according to him, is simply sick with this habit. As a result, rather unusual sculptures are born that look great both against the backdrop of a metropolis and in a wilderness setting
