History knows a lot shipwrecks, according to researchers, in the world today there are about three million sunken ships that have yet to be found. Most of the discovered ships (and this is about 148 thousand) are considered historical monuments and are under the protection of UNESCO as an underwater cultural heritage of mankind. However, there are some ships that ran aground near the coast, they still rise above the surface of the water, attracting tourists and photographers.
The ice-class cruise ship "World Discoverer" was built in 1974. It became famous for being one of the first to bring tourists to Antarctica and the Amazon River. The tragedy happened on April 30, 2000, when the ship crashed into an uncharted reef near the Solomon Islands. All passengers were evacuated, the "Pathfinder" was towed aground, but it was not possible to pick it up. Over time, the locals plundered the ice drift, today this ship is a real local attraction.
The fate of the cruise ship Mediterranean Sky is no less tragic. It was built in 1952 in Newcastle (England) and has been surfing the ocean for 44 years. In 1997, the ship was arrested off the coast of the Greek city of Patras due to the bankruptcy of the owner company and towed to the Eleusus Bay, where it is still located. In January 2003, the liner tilted to one side and went under water.
For the bulk carrier Captayannis, which transported sugar, a collision with a tanker in 1974 on the Clyde River in Scotland became fatal. As a result, the tanker was not injured, but the captain of "Captayannis" had to take his ship aground. The litigation continued for a long time, and the "sugar" ship, meanwhile, turned into a home for marine life and birds.
The ocean liner "SS America" was built in 1940, participated in the Second World War, and after - changed many owners. They wanted to make the ship a floating prison, rent it for scrap, but in the end it was sold to one of the Thai companies, which intended to turn it into a luxury five-star hotel in Phuket. For this, the ship was even renamed "American Star". However, the rosy plans were not destined to come true: during the towing, the ship got into a severe thunderstorm, the crew was evacuated by helicopter, but the ship could not be saved. Gradually, the liner collapsed and went under water, today it can be seen only at low tide.

Last voyage: 25 sunken ships from around the world
The history professor from Argentina has a rather interesting hobby: he loves sunken ships. He has amassed a fairly large collection of photographs of old ships and encouraged other photographers to share their photographs on the topic. Cargo and passenger, small and huge, in the middle of the ocean and bogged down in the sand - in the resulting overview there are a wide variety of ships and boats, and it may so happen that some of them still hold treasures
