Every week National Geographic prepares for us colorful stories about beautiful landscapes and plants, rare, wild and tamed animals, interesting people and unusual traditions. Today's stories are voted the best in the first week of April.

The northern slopes of Monte Perdido in the Spanish Pyrenees are reminiscent of Tolkien's worlds. For several days this mountain was camouflaged by clouds, only occasionally revealing glaciers on the slopes. It was really cold there, the strong wind knocked you down, the atmosphere was very impressive. This place could truly be the abode of ancient gods or giant dragons.

The best photographs are casual, spontaneous, unexpected. So, a photograph was walking in the Sumava National Park in the Czech Republic, and suddenly several deer jumped out to meet him, probably frightened by human steps, conversations and noise. Finding his bearings quickly, the author of the photo managed to make several successful, wonderful shots.

"David versus Goliath", as the photographer called this picture, capturing a misty January morning in Germany. The morning, dawn sun is hiding behind large trees, and next to it is a lonely tree, which looks tiny against their background, even dwarf.

Animal migration in the famous Serengeti Park in Tanzania is one of the traditional seasonal phenomena. So, the photographer managed to capture an interesting moment: zebras and wildebeests gathered together on the banks of the river during the migration season, waiting for the right moment to cross it and continue on their way.

Huge lightning, caused by a violent thunderstorm, illuminates Elephant Butte in New Mexico, and a wildfire from the basement fires the horizon with brown smoke.

One of the attractions of Chicago is the famous Millennium Park. He is loved by both locals and visitors, and tourists, because there is everything to have a wonderful time and relax. And paths for walking, and flower gardens, and sculptures … And the kids are happy to frolic in the water jets under the water towers.
07 april
Elephants are no less curious characters than humans. In the Tanzanian nature reserve, where the photographer dropped in to admire the wonderful landscapes and take some picturesque shots, the curious baby elephant became interested in visitors as much as if it were a small child.
