The last time I was in Sukhanovo was in 1992, when I was doing my diploma at Stroganovka. The theme was: "Reconstruction of the estate of the late 18th-19th centuries. Sukhanovo and the organization of holidays dedicated to the victory of Russia in the war of 1812". For many years the princes Volkonsky were the owners of the estate, and the first owner of the family was the hero of the war of 1812 Dmitry Petrovich Volkonsky. After trying to recreate an English free park with buildings, I decided to develop a French regular area in front of the main building.
It was only outlined and never fully realized. There, in front of the monument to the prince, I intended to make the main platform for the holidays. Water was pumped out of a large pool, and for a while it became a parade ground for historical parades. And the fountain platform turned into a stage. It is a pity that now the project is impossible to implement.
It was an attempt to draw attention to the crumbling monument. And now, almost 20 years later, having arrived there, I again experienced a feeling of sadness over the loss and destruction, which is becoming more and more.

Old Paris, some believed, was destroyed under Napoleon III. And the end of the thirties of the last century was a period of retreat into the past of the old, "tsarist" Moscow.
