What is garbage for one person is a treasure for another, an irreplaceable material for creating works of art. For many of us, hubcaps are part of the car, but for some, they are creative stuff. Ptolemy Elrington is one of those people. He creates amazing creatures - dragons, flies, dogs, crocodiles, dolphins, toucans, lizards - from car hubcaps. This is his passion, but also a certain message that says that new life can be breathed into used and discarded things.

The Brighton-based artist collects thousands of lost car hubcaps from roadsides across Britain and makes bizarre sculptures of animals and birds out of them. Returned from oblivion, car hubcaps transform into shiny flying fish, crabs, sharks, penguins, terrible crocodiles and other living creatures. Ptolemy Elrington spends all his free time in the studio, creating his metal works of art from various hubcaps from BMW, Mercedes, Ford and Volvo cars.

All caps found on the roads usually have scratches and abrasions. These footprints, according to the artist, complement the texture, add a bit of history and adorn the iron statues. The author never paints them over, does not grind, does not mask.

His most expensive piece of art is a 10 meter long dragon, which took about a month to create and 200 caps were used. Among his other works, lizards, flies and toucans are also enchanting, and are worth approximately a few hundred pounds.

The master has been making his bizarre creations out of car hubcaps for seven years now, and his passion continues unabated. In the studio of Ptolemy Elrington, there are always about 500 caps in stock, and the model takes from ten to 200 pieces, depending on the size of the creature that is given life.

In addition to car hubcaps, Ptolemy Elrington also creates sculptures from various kitchen utensils: juicers, mixers, toasters and even shopping carts.
