Turner Prize Is one of the most prestigious British painting awards. This year it was won by a shocking artist from Glasgow Richard Wrightfamous for his abstract paintings. The victory in the competition was brought to him by a huge fresco made of gold leaf right on the wall of the exhibition hall.
Richard Wright has one quirk that makes him widely known among contemporary artists: all of his creations are short-lived. The master spares no time in creating them, and after the exhibitions he mercilessly erases his drawings. The same fate befell the gilded deciduous patterns that adorned the walls of the London gallery.
The process of creating the competition work was very painstaking: Richard Wright thoroughly studied the technique of creating fresco images, including the experience and masters of the Renaissance. First, he created a sketch on paper, then using a stencil he applied the image with chalk on the wall, and only after that he covered it with gilding. A special charm to the "miracle wallpaper" was given by the fact that from different angles the golden patterns shimmered in different shades of color.
By the way, Richard Wright was nominated for the Turner Prize thanks to the frescoes presented at the 55th Carnegie International exhibition and the Ingleby Gallery. In London, the artist received a monetary award of $ 41,000. The authoritative British edition "The Independent" ironically noted that the award was presented for "wallpaper for the walls." Although for contemporary art this is not a redistribution.

Cherry Blossom, or Sakura handmade. Fresco on a building ready for demolition
Japan, which suffers from earthquakes more and more often than other countries, has one curious tradition known as Okurie. One of these actions was provoked by the artist Yosuke Tan, inviting everyone to participate in the painting of the college building in Iwaki Sogo, where he once studied, as well as

London in puddles-mirrors. London in Puddles Photo Series by Gavin Hemmond
The stereotype of London as a city that is always wet in the rain and drowned in fog is firmly rooted in our minds. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that it can be hot and sunny in the British capital. In fact, the weather here is different, but rain and dampness have become a kind of visiting card of Foggy Albion, creating in it a special atmosphere on the verge of romance and spleen. A series of photographs with the same mood was created by British photographer Gavin Hammond, who gave his
Knightly armor of the 16th century as a work of art: the work of a virtuoso gunsmith
Medieval knightly armor can be seen today in various museums around the world, but history has practically not brought the names of the masters of arms business to this day. Italian Filippo Negroli was a real virtuoso of coinage. He managed to turn helmets, shields and armor into exquisite jewelry, which knights flaunted on especially solemn occasions
