After the March events in Japan, namely the earthquake and the subsequent accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, the world was once again divided into people who are panicky about radiation and people who consider its threat to be exaggerated. In the wake of this debate, creative association Luzinterruptus created an installation dedicated to the nuclear theme called Radioactive Control.

Luzinterruptus are probably the most famous light artists in the world. The works of this extraordinary creative association have repeatedly appeared on our website. In particular, among them you can remember the glowing poetry "1000 poems by mail", the Madrid picnic for aliens or the glowing shadow cemetery. In their new installation, the guys from Luzinterruptus consider the problem of the radioactive threat.

The installation "Radioactive Control" was presented at the Dockville Festival in Hamburg. And its main goal is to beat stereotypes about radiation, but at the same time draw attention to the real threat it poses to people individually and to Humanity as a whole.

"Radioactive Control" consists of one hundred human figures, each of which bears a sign of radioactive contamination. Each of these figures glows in the dark from within. And in the light of day, only greenish radiation signs glow on them. This plays up the common misconception that a person exposed to radioactive radiation begins to glow.

But, on the other hand, this installation also shows the enormous danger that radiation poses for Mankind. After all, she can easily kill hundreds and thousands of people who will not even notice how they received a lethal dose.

Moreover, the Dockville Festival was chosen by the participants of Luzinterruptus for the presentation of the installation "Radioactive Control" by no coincidence. After all, Germany is a country that has proclaimed its goal to close all its nuclear power plants by 2022. And Luzinterruptus, welcoming this initiative, are very afraid that the FRG government, for political and economic reasons, will abandon its landmark decision.
