Thousands of firefly books lined the street in Melbourne, blocking pedestrians and motorists from passing. They seemed to soundlessly cry out to those around them: stop, do not rush, think, look through the book! With such an unusual installation called Literature VS Traffic, the creative group Luzinterruptus attracted the attention of city residents to reading.
In recent years, the number of people keen on reading has significantly decreased, scientists, university professors, school teachers and even parents of modern adolescents shake their heads with chagrin. Many people prefer to spend time in front of a computer monitor, hanging on social networks or online games, while others simply do not have enough time to read books, since everything is eaten up by work. Therefore, an initiative group of creative people, united in the studio Luzinterruptus, collected a whole mountain of various literature, and laid it out on the central sidewalks and avenues of the big city, so that, at least for a few days, literature would defeat car traffic.
Volunteers from Melbourne residents also played a significant role in collecting books and organizing this intellectual installation, but the city libraries and the Salvation Army donated the bulk of the literature. A luminous river of books flaunted on the streets of Melbourne for several days, and one could observe with what surprise people walked along this wealth, leafing through, sorting through and examining the books. And at the end of the project everyone could take their favorite volumes with them, and in unlimited quantities.
You can find out about this and many other creative projects of the studio Luzinterruptus on its website.
