Englishwoman Laura Hedland has a very rich specialization, and in the literal sense: she adds images from toasts. Last fall, a 27-year-old museum employee created the first mosaic painting in her life - a portrait of her mother-in-law. Recently, a young lady continued her bread-making venture and swung at the main brainchild of Leonardo da Vinci. A reproduction of the "La Gioconda" 9 x 11 meters appeared on the square of the Italian town of Matera.

When you want to please the birthday boy, you can't do without baking. In order to surprise her beloved mother-in-law, Laura Hadland spent 600 loaves of bread, cutting them into almost 10 thousand pieces. The toasts, fried to varying degrees of readiness, played the role of smalt - and the result was a huge mosaic picture - a portrait of the birthday girl.

The 50th anniversary is a serious event, and the gift must be appropriate. In order to surprise her mother-in-law with an unusual portrait, Laura Hedland collected the picture for 6 hours. In addition, she invited 40 volunteers as assistants in advance, and 9 toasters worked at the same time.

The size of the bread mosaic is 10 x 12 meters. The appetizing creation immediately got into the Guinness Book of Records. But the most important achievement of Laura Hedland is that the culprit of the festive cheese-boron was surprised and delighted.

Why did Laura Hedland turn to this particular art form? As a museum worker, she is not by hearsay familiar with Roman mosaics, so she wanted to modernize the ancient technique and create a portrait of her beloved mother-in-law from her favorite food.
