There is no outrageousness and hysteria in her painting. The works of the young Turkish woman Gizem Saka, who works in New York, are not for those who are in search of existential experiences or are a fan of the gothic-gloomy Bosch. But if you are attracted by harmony and pure joyful colors and emotions, if you think that art should not only excite and explode the brain, but also calm and encourage, or you do not know what to hang on the wall so that you can look at it without irritation every day, this is just for you!
It is no secret that at the beginning of a creative search, all artists imitate someone, in the works of Gizem one can feel the influence of Picasso and Matisse, whom the artist calls her favorite artist. But the self-taught artist Gizem is at the same time really talented, as evidenced by her experiments with color. In the early works, you observe pure, uncomplicated colors and the same simple bright emotions, later the color palette becomes more complex and softened, dreaminess and thoughtfulness appear. There is a lot of work ahead - developing her own style, working with form, but all this only delights her, she likes to freely express herself with a brush.
Gizem has many successful exhibits and sales, mainly in US galleries. When asked how she sees herself in 10 years, she replied that she hopes to work in Istanbul, in her own studio overlooking the Bosphorus. Any artist is benefited and enriched by another culture, but homesickness is such an understandable thing.
