In the most ordinary house in East Sussex, the heyday of the Renaissance. You can get to Italy in the 15th-16th centuries by asking yourself to visit the self-taught artist Robert Burns. How could a person with such a name stay away from art? True, he does not write poetry, in any case, we love him for the beautiful painting of walls and ceilings. The 63-year-old British painter, retired, turned his home into a Renaissance building.
Previously, Robert Burns painted the walls of other people's houses and apartments in boring colors for years, and he was finally tired of monochromatic pastel colors. For 15 years in a row, he diligently crawled with a roller, smearing another pale shade on the walls. And the soul of the painter could not bear it, hungry for creativity - a bright unusual painting of walls and ceilings.
One day Robert Burns bought two books about the Vatican at a sale and suddenly discovered the Italian Renaissance. Although the Englishman had never been to Rome or Florence, he decided that it was not the gods who were painting the walls. And the ceilings too. But he is still a painter with extensive experience and a great desire to create beautiful things. This is how the painting of the walls and ceilings began.
When the self-taught artist first started working on the unusual interior, he had to redo the wall painting three times. But over time, Robert Burns realized how great classics like Caravaggio and Michelangelo managed to create masterpieces. The follower of the titans of the Renaissance painted his own walls with acrylics, at first having washed himself with them, but then realizing what was what.
Of course, it is clear that the copies of our contemporary are far from the originals of the Renaissance, but they look very interesting. Robert Burns is delighted to be involved in such an exciting undertaking. And 4 years ago, when he had not yet half finished work on the interior of his house, a billionaire appreciated his work and invited an artist to paint the ceiling for him. Of course, Robert Burns drew an obvious parallel with the fate of great artists, in particular Michelangelo, who worked on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel for several years.
The artist's wife, Linda Burns, combines the functions of his most ardent admirer and thoughtful critic. She liked the new design of the room. The only thing the couple regrets is that the painting of the walls and ceilings cannot be taken with them if they suddenly have to move out. And the spouses' worst nightmare is that someone comes to their house with a bucket of nasty pale paint and begins to smear it on the walls.

An artist from Russia burns paintings with wax: the revival of the ancient painting technique - encaustics
Even in ancient Egypt, wax paints were already used to paint tombs. This material perfectly retains its shape and color. It is not known for certain when exactly this technique appeared. Later it was used by the ancient Greeks. They burned stunning, incredibly lifelike images with wax paints on a marble board. This technique is called "encaustic". Over time, it was forgotten and almost completely lost. Now this unusual old technology is experiencing its rebirth grace
Why German girls willingly went to work in brothels and on what principle did brothels of the Third Reich work?
Two ancient professions - military and ladies of easy virtue have always gone hand in hand. In order to control an army of young and strong men for a long time, it was necessary to take care of all their physiological needs. It is not surprising that at all times violence was accepted in the occupied territories, although there was an alternative - brothels, in the creation of which the Germans especially succeeded during the Second World War

Forest Spirit - Plant Spirit. Reflection of the God of Nature in the works of various authors
In Western furry culture (the art of depicting anthropomorphic animals) I have long observed one interesting tendency - some images created by one author become, as it were, the public domain, they are drawn by many. This could be called fan art, but fan art is usually created based on world famous works, and here they are just separate images created by a talented person and picked up by other talented authors. In this collection I want to introduce you to the spirit
Star-studded installation of Grotte Stellaire on the ceiling and walls. Art project from Julien Salaud
The effect that the artist Julien Salaud uses to create his unusual installations has long been familiar to party-goers who cannot imagine themselves without a disco. One has only to appear on the dance floor in a white robe, and under the light of ultraviolet lights, the clothes begin to literally glow from the inside. The exhibition of this author, which opened in the Parisian gallery Palais de Tokyo, is therefore called the "Star Cave" (Grotte Stellaire)
