Probably, it is true that recently life in big cities has become so boring and predictable that representatives of the creative environment, without saying a word, began to struggle with it. That Nick Giorgiu surprised New Yorkers with newspaper sculptures of unknown animals, and now Bethany Bristow is trying to stir people up with her bright and incomprehensible installations.
Bethany Bristow's installations consist of irregularly shaped glass vessels (they seem to melt slowly in the sun), broken bottles, brightly colored feathers and corn syrup. A strange combination of materials - and it looks strange too: as if some unknown creature either crashed on the ground, falling from a great height, or fell under the wheels of a car.
As a rule, Bethany Bristow takes photographs of her works and sometimes also captures the reactions of passers-by to them. And then the installations remain just lying on the streets - and their fate is unknown. According to the author, later people can see photographs of her work with a description of the place and time on the Internet or in galleries, but these pictures serve only to confirm the existence of installations, and how long they existed and what happened to them in the future - the question remains open.
Installations by Bethany Bristow at different times appeared in New York, as well as in a number of Asian cities: Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Tokyo. Besides. The author's work could be seen at MOMA, the Museum of Modern Art, where Bethany Bristow placed her glass-feather creations between the museum exhibits, on window sills and flights of stairs. And the visitors found them quite by accident.
Bethany Bristow lives and works in New York. Her work includes elements of sculpture, performance and photography.
