In order to create a work of art, you can go to the store and buy the necessary materials: paints, brushes, film, threads, fabric … You can sort out old things in the attic or in the pantry and make something original from a broken alarm clock or old photographs. Or you can just go outside and look around - and be sure that Mother Nature will provide you with materials for creativity no worse than the largest store.
Land art is a relatively young direction in art. It arose in the 60s of the last century as a reaction to environmental problems, and then turned into an independent art form. Land art provides that sculptures and images are created from natural materials - cones, leaves, flowers - and are located near the place where these materials were collected. The creation of works in the studio is not allowed.
The Land Art examples presented in this article were authored by British sculptor, photographer and videographer Richard Shilling. He creates his sculptures in scenic and wilderness locations throughout Northern England. However, the author's works appeared not only in Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumbria, but also in Scotland, and even in the Himalayas. Richard's sculptures are composed of snow, leaves, wood, stones and any other materials that nature has to offer him.
Unfortunately, all land art works are very short-lived. Sometimes their life is only a few minutes - before the first gust of wind. Therefore, every master of land art must also be a photographer in order to have time to capture his work on film. This is exactly how - in the form of photographs - the majority of viewers get acquainted with this direction of art.
Land art isn't just for professional painters or sculptors. Richard Schilling encourages absolutely everyone, regardless of age and ability, to try their hand in this direction and claims that it is incredibly exciting. And if you don't know where to start, then the author will gladly share his ideas on the Internet page.

Art tractor for patterns in the sand. New Land Art by Gunilla Klingberg
Regular readers of Cultural Studies and connoisseurs of non-standard contemporary art will surely remember those mysterious drawings on snow fields by Simon Beck, similar works of Sonja Hinrichsen, sand drawings by the master of land art under the pseudonym Evewright, which look like signs and symbols left by those who are watching us from space. Diverse and varied installations by Richard Schilling
The Englishman Richard Schilling is one of those creators who do not need to think that the paint will run out soon, or that the brushes are slightly frayed, or the plaster for sculptures will have to wait a long time. He is content with what nature gives him, because what the author does is called land art (from the word "earth"). So, in order to find inspiration, and at the same time materials for creativity, Richard only needs to go out into the open field, into the street, into the garden or into a forest clearing, and x
