Winter. February. Snow. Romance. The last month of winter brings with it many bright, light, romantic events. In addition to Valentine's Day, February is also significant with the Sapporo Yuki Matsuri Snow Festival, which is held during the week in the Japanese city of Sapporo, the administrative center of Hokkaido. This year's Snow Festival 2009 runs from 5-11 February 2009.
The Sapporo Snow Festival first took place in 1950, when high school students erected six statues in Odori Park. Since that time, the event has taken on a large scale, becoming an unusually interesting holiday, where amazing sculptures made of snow and ice are presented. The winter event attracts over two million visitors annually, not only from all over Japan, but from all over the world.
The snow festival is held in three places at once in Sapporo: Odori Park, Susukino Quarter and Tsudome Stadium. On the main site - in Odori Park, which is 1.5 kilometers long, there are about 12 huge sculptures made of snow, more than three hundred small snow figures and ice statues, each of which is illuminated in a special way.
The Saporro Snow Festival is one of the most important winter events in Japan and attracts a huge number of visitors. People flock to Sapporo to see the snow masterpieces, some of which are 15 meters high and 25 meters wide. In addition to a dozen huge sculptures, Odori also has about a hundred small sculptures made of snow and ice. It also hosts concerts and cultural events, many of which use sculptures as a stage.
For seven days in February, the erected snow statues (both large and small) transform Sapporo into a winter fairytale city of crystal ice and white snow.

The story was accused of excessive morality and infernality, however, 200 years later, "The Black Hen, or Underground inhabitants" remains the same exciting and still teaches children simple and eternal truths
