What is good in winter is the presence of snow around, from which you can sculpt snowballs, snowmen or much more complex shapes. And the Chinese city of Changchun even hosts an annual festival Jingyue Snow World Festival, which brings together the best snow masters from all over the world!
The world knows the Ice Palace Festival, which takes place every day in the Chinese metropolis of Harbin. But not far from it, in the city of Changchun, another similar event is taking place, however, it is dedicated to sculptures not from ice, but from snow!
The Jingyue Snow World Festival annually attracts several dozen groups of snow sculptors from all over the world, but primarily from China and neighboring Asian countries.
In the same year, artists came here from Russia. And it was they who created from the pressed snow a huge Orthodox church, very similar to the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed in Moscow.
Other groups of sculptors have created from this material a kind of Great Wall of China, a fairytale castle in the style of Disneyland, a huge herd of horses galloping with all their might, and many other similar works that will delight viewers in the next couple of weeks.
Unfortunately, as experience shows, sculptures made of pressed snow do not survive until spring. After all, this material is not as durable as ice. It quickly erodes, subsides, and therefore in just ten to fifteen days from the once gorgeous forms only a shapeless pile of snow remains.
