Cramped cages, downcast animals and signs with prohibitions on feeding animals - unfortunately, this is how zoos often look. However, having visited Lujan Zoo in Buenos Aires, it seems that he was created in order to destroy all negative stereotypes. Visitors here can easily go into a spacious cage to a predator, feed him and take a picture as a souvenir!
In the zoo, a daredevil can easily feed grizzly bears with grapes, treat elephants with a treat, or ride on the back of a tiger. Animals react to this quite calmly: as statistics show, the zoo was opened in 1994, and since then there has not been a single accident. The administration does not even require receipts from visitors and allows children to interact with predators.
Of course, such calmness of wild animals alarms skeptics, who believe that this can be achieved only in one way - to mix drugs into their food. Despite this, the zoo administration denied such accusations, explaining that the animals in this case would soon fall ill and die. Zoo director Jorge Semino claims that the key to the goodwill of tigers and bears is that they were brought up from childhood in constant contact with people.
Trainers constantly work with representatives of the feline family; immediately after the birth of a cub, a specialist deals with him: in the process of training, aggressive instincts associated with competition for food are smoothed out. The animals in the zoo are constantly full, so they are always in a good mood.
In Buenos Aires, the rainforest is close enough that the locals often take exotic animals home, but they soon realize that keeping them is quite difficult. Many pets are brought to the zoo by people because they are properly cared for.
For those who are wary of living predators, it will be interesting to visit Reiman Gardens in Iowa. Here you can see a toy zoo from Sean Kenny, the artist created a whole magical world from the Lego constructor!
