We are already familiar with the art of quilling, that is, with works created from twisted strips of paper, thanks to the work of such sculptors as Suzy Myers with her interpretation of the famous painting by Van Gogh "Starry Night", the works of the Ukrainian artist under the pseudonym Iron-Maiden Art and other contemporary artists. The Swiss-German artist works in the same technique. Valerie buess, who devoted about 20 years of her life to this type of creativity. Valerie lives and works in Germany, and for 20 years now her main creative hobby has been creating amazing sculptures out of paper. By twisting, folding and gluing the resulting pieces, and sometimes adding a little color to them, she creates fantastic organic shapes that seem to be inspired by dreams of the sea. Some of her works are more abstract, while others clearly indicate that they used to be in a past life: books, sea urchins, coral reefs, seaweed and sea grass. You can imagine that old books tell about the secrets of the depths of the sea, and ships are ready to take travelers-dreamers far beyond the horizon, into the endless waters of the blue oceans.
The Swiss-German artist is forty-six years old, but she is still young in spirit and in her thoughts. Creativity, dreams and fantasies make us young, and our favorite pastime inspires and gives joy, without which a person cannot live harmoniously with himself and the world around us. In the world of Valerie Buss, this harmony exists, one has only to look at her creative works, which she first demonstrated to the public back in 1999. The artist's talent did not go unnoticed, and for more than 20 years she has been regularly participating in exhibitions around the world, doing work both to order and at the behest of her heart. Many call her works strange, some do not understand them, but no one remains indifferent. And this means that sea sculptures offend the viewer, evoke emotions in him - therefore, the work was not done in vain.
In addition to sculptures made of rolled paper, the artist is fond of photography, and works in two dimensions. You can get acquainted with the works of Valerie Buess on the website
