The famous Polish poet of the twentieth century, Stanislaw Jerzy Lec, was sure that even from a dream you can make jam if you add fruit and sugar. Looks like a veteran Larry Richardson also adhered to this point of view and never doubted that his goal was achievable! A former military man from Kansas managed to build on his site a copy of the famous Golden Gate Bridgeadding to your dream 90 tons of concrete, a lot of recyclable materials, as well as … 11 years of free time!
Not so long ago, on the site Kulturologiya.ru, we talked about the 75th anniversary of the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge. From now on, the famous bridge in San Francisco has a "double", which has become a real attraction for residents of Kansas and surrounding states. The dream to see the legendary bridge lived in Larry's heart for many years. Even having met Barbara, then still a young sophomore student, he proposed to her after the first date, but on one condition: to get married after he had the opportunity to visit the Golden Gate Bridge. And such a case happened very soon: going on a military operation in Vietnam in 1968, leaving the United States, Larry saw the bridge and decided to definitely visit here with his future wife.
The wedding took place exactly one year later, right after Larry returned from the war. The quiet life in Kansas was not to the guy's liking, and in 1994 he launched a large-scale construction project on his farm in order to at least partially make his dream come true. Together with his father, Larry erected a miracle bridge, the only reference point was the postcard on which the Golden Gate Bridge was depicted! Craftsmen used recyclable materials to build the structure, spending about $ 5000 on the entire project, while the cost of the "original" is about $ 35 million!
Today, the bridge at Larry Richardson's farm is a real attraction. Many tourists come here, they write about this architectural miracle in the newspapers. When the Richardson family story became popular, many people from all over the world responded to help them visit San Francisco. Voluntary donations were enough for Larry and Barbara to go on a journey and finally visit this bridge together!

Futurology is a very interesting teaching that is at the intersection of science, art and common sense. It has nothing to do with predictions, since futurologists always carefully follow technical innovations and try to guess the vector of human development. Sometimes it works out well, and then we admire their perspicacity, sometimes the trends are guessed wrong, and in that case it looks funny. Not so long ago, another direction has become fashionable - retrofuturism, - the study of prog
