Paper ripples, or an installation called Cartoframma, this is an amazing art project of the artist Daniele Papuliwho lives and works in Italy. The large-scale installation consists of over 10,000 strips of paper that have been specially bent and twisted into spirals to create a magnificent wavy effect on the art gallery floor. There are more and more artists who work with paper every day. But those who invent something extremely new and fresh, not similar to the work of colleagues from other cities and countries, can be counted on one hand. And Daniele Papuli is one of these art innovators. The talented work of this author creates the illusion of a fibrous texture or some kind of liquid substance. At first glance, it can be mistaken for a piece of silk that draped the hall. But on closer inspection, the illusion dissipates, and emotions such as respect, admiration and surprise come to the fore.
Daniele Papuli started working with paper back in 1993 after a trip to Berlin, where he took part in a seminar on papermaking techniques. Since then, the sculptor has decided to use only this delicate material in his work, experimenting with its shape and strength. Although paper is simple, it is incredibly difficult to work with, because of its fragility, but very inspiring due to its flexibility and lightness that can be manipulated.
On the website of Daniele Papuli, you can see other projects created entirely from paper.
