The collection owes its name to a special Urushi wood known as "lacquer wood". This tree grows only in Japan and China, its sap (resin) can be collected only once a year, in a very limited amount, and then stored for 3-5 years, then processed into varnish, which, when solidified, turns into a kind of natural plastic. To paint the clock, the artist used a varnish made from the sap of this particular tree. Urushi is also the ancient art of varnishing. The resin lacquer of an amazing wood is combined with a metal powder, and then the pattern is covered with gold dust from 18k rose gold. All the work is done with special tools: bamboo rods and brushes made of rat hair. Nine watches were created using this technique, which formed the basis of the creative collection, which became the most artistic in the history of the Chopard brand.
