If you consider yourself a connoisseur of good wine or like to spend an evening at the bar sipping a cocktail through a straw, then you will certainly love the images in this article. What do the paintings of abstract artists have to do with alcohol? The most immediate, because, firstly, these are not pictures, but photographs, and secondly, as you probably already guessed, these are photographs of alcoholic beverages!
BevShots is a project in which a wide variety of alcoholic drinks and cocktails are photographed under a microscope using simple technology. First, the drink is crystallized, and then, using an ordinary light microscope with a camera, photographs are taken. A ray of light passing through the crystals creates a magical play of colors, which we see in the images.
Researcher Michael Davidson was at the origin of the project. At first, as befits a scientist, he explored the structure of DNA and vitamins with the help of micrographs, but one day he decided that it was time to direct his activities in a more creative direction and - to be honest - to earn extra money from this. This is how the idea came about to photograph cocktails through a microscope, and then beer, wine and other drinks. However, "BevShots" would hardly have gained much fame, if not for the second participant in the project - Lester Hutt (Lester Hutt). The scientific background in the person of Davidson and the business acumen of Hut brought the project a real success.
The creators of the pictures claim that their images are in no way inferior to works of modern art, and offer to safely use them in interior design. On the site, you can choose your favorite drink, order image sizes and a frame and decorate your own house with a bright abstraction, or make an unusual gift for a friend. The price of paintings starts at $ 19.99, and the authors of the project emphasize that "contemporary art has never been so affordable."

Glass knitting. Art-glass by Erwin Timmers
Looking at the abundance of knitted works of art, it seems that the designers, as one, suddenly remembered that they were once taught to knit, and began to revive their former skills. The artist discussed in this article, Erwin Timmers, is also into knitting, but in a specific way. He is called a "glass designer" because he knows how to get amazing things out of this complex, naughty and very fragile material. Accordingly, he has the same knitting
Bohemian glass engraving. Glass art by Heather Gillespie
Glass is like honey: if you melt it, it will be just as transparent and thick, viscous and malleable. Probably, this association became one of the reasons why the British artist Heather Gillespie prefers to work with glass, and she chose the appropriate specialization at the local university - an engraver on glass, and not on any glass, but on the famous Bohemian
