Portraits of famous musicians can now be found anywhere and made of anything, but the artist Daniel Edlen (Daniel Edlen) condescendingly looks at all this work. In fact, he himself draws musical legends, but he does it on the only objects possible, in his opinion. Portraits of musicians on vinyl records are simple, logical and very original.
Daniel says that his father instilled in him a love of music, playing records on records to his son, and then passing on the records themselves. However, for the time being, they just lay in the artist's apartment, and he himself studied the art of drawing at the Brentwood Art Center. One day Daniel had the idea to create drawings with white pencil on black paper - it would look spectacular. And a little later, he remembered his collection of records and began to draw on them, using white acrylic paint instead of a pencil.
At first, Daniel did not pursue any commercial goal in his work, painting portraits of musicians for his own pleasure. When he had about 10 portraits accumulated, friends suggested that people could buy as Christmas gifts. The idea turned out to be successful, and now the author creates works to order. Despite the large number of clients, his drawings are always made by hand, so the buyer can always be sure that his plate is unique and inimitable. By the way, the artist doesn't just paint any musicians on any records. He depicts a portrait of this or that person on a disc with recordings of this particular musician.
And the most important question: can the records that Daniel have worked on play. Unfortunately and general disappointment - no. However, the artist takes for work already unsuitable for listening to records, so there is no need to say that he spoils the sound recordings. Rather, on the contrary, it prolongs their life.
